Vintage Early View-Master, Model C (1946-1955), Made by Sawyer's, Stereoscopic Viewer
This is the "Model C" VIEW-MASTER made by Sawyer's from Portland, Oregon, USA.
The Model C is the first in the stereoscopic viewer line to accept the photo disks through a slot at the top. There are many variations on the minor details of these viewers. This unit has a brass advancing mechanism (as opposed to aluminum), six steps in each eyepiece instead of 7, and rivets inset into the Bakelite body. The Sawyer's name and patent information are clearly outlined on the back of the unit just below the eyepieces.
This viewer appears to be fully functional. It has worn commensurate with its age, but there are no cracks or visible signs of damage to the unit's body. The advancing lever moves smoothly, with a healthy return spring pulling it back.
It's ideal for a collector or nostalgia buff.
